The North American Indian Prose Award is given for the best non-fiction prose manuscript written by an American Indian.  Co-sponsored by the Native American Studies program of the University of California-Santa Cruz, this award is limited to memoirs, biographies, historical monographs, literary criticism, and familiar essays.
